Mason knew his mother just by her annual phone calls on his birthday. He didn't like his father's second marriage and hated his stepmother Sophia. He was always jealous of CC's love to the other children (Sophia's), to Channing Jr.,(at the beginning he was supposed to be Mason's half-brother but then it was discovered that he was the son of Sophia and Lionel, he was not Mason's relative.)
