Chapter 103 — Fresh Start
The next week turned out is crazy for Mason and Mary. Mickey's arrival makes a real chaos in their small family. Suddenly appeared that there so much need be to redo and rebuild for living with the newborn as well as fend off the overwhelming wanting of older children to help out with youngest brother.
Mason realized that they need urgently seek some way out after in the morning Sammy wake him up when he's sleeping with his head on his table.
"Dada, Miki wet."
When Mason stretched and went to the nursery he saw that Mary's deeply sleeping on the sofa, and Chip kneeing on the chair at Mickey's crib. Seeing her father, the boy makes a face and said: "Wash Miki!"
After leading out older children in the living room and bring them the box of bricks Mason returned to the nursery and changed Mickey.
Mary stirred, and then raised her head.
"Mason? I'll get up now."
"Do not worry, I already did. Sleep."
Convinced that she fell asleep again, Mason picks her up and carried into the apartment number two. Christy will come in fifteen minutes, and Mary was needed to have a rest.
Going into the living room Mason almost fell stumbling over the scattered bricks and while he's restoring the balance Chip straddled his leg.
"Daddy, ride me!"
"Lord, how women can endure this!" Mason thought sadly, doomed stepping with sticking son. "I really love their children, but sometimes they're going me crazy!"
To his enormous relief at this moment appeared Christy and children are delighted found her as the new object of entertainment. Mason collected his papers and left for the court earlier. From experience he knew that as longer you are in society these little rascals as sooner they'll make a game that then did not ending without loud upset cries. No, they really need to work out with the moving in a new house.
In the between court sessions Mason rewrote the requirements for their new home for tenth time, adding more new and removing olds. In the process he was found by CC's secretary.
"Mason, Mr. Capwell sent you these documents." She handed him the folder and then intimately bent and whispered: "Your tie have the spot of children's cream.
"Damn!" escaped from Mason when he finally noticed the spot. "Thank you, Marisa."
"Not at all," she laughed and walked away.
Mason sighed and put CC's folder on the table, thinking that he already have his work too much for to take up more of Capwell's company. However he's opening the folder and frowned. These documents have nothing about Capwell Enterprises. These were offers to buy real estate with the attached note from CC: "Mason, may be you and Mary would happy with one of these houses. If don't, please make me to know and we'll find others".
Against Mason's deciding to make the selection by his own but he still forced himself to look at the houses selected by the father. He starts to look though pages and suddenly his hand froze on one of them. He leaned back in his chair, looking the pictured home. He looked quickly though values and its location. Yes, perhaps it's was just what they was need. Location, price, size, number of bedrooms... and even the small apartment above the garage where they might Christie settle in. She surely would be happy to have the free and comfortable housing, and they get their babysitter here. And the playground outside the house... Yes, his father thought about everything. And he found the house that Mason was not even able to found in whole week. Mason have a hard time to accept that his father easily gave him the flick on the nose again, but for the sake of Mary, and their own mental balance, he seems was ready to agree to with CC's offered house.
After reviewing all the conditions of sale and with some displeasure making sure that they have no dirty tricks, he left the courtroom that already was getting crowded. Using the phone booth he called Marisa and reported that they agreed with the house number six. Marisa asked the cautious question if his wife agree with him and Mason replied that he had not doubts. "I am sure, Mary, you will like this house. And maybe you'll love it," he said aloud, and hurried back into the courtroom.
However, he did not expect that Mary's reaction found out be so upset.
"Mason, you bought the new house without even consulting me?" Mary's eyes were offended and upset. "I never thought that I'm an empty place for you!"
"Mary, look at me--"
"Why? You've already decided everything and my opinion mean nothing for you."
"Not at all!"
"Then why you did it with me?!"
"Do not cry, Mary, you make children wake up. Mary, look at me. I did not want you to be upset. Just I saw that the house fits really very well for us. You did not see it. Why you already think you do not like it?"
"Are if I'll say "no"? If I say that I do not like it what you going to do?"
Mason sighed.
"So I need to say my father that we changed their minds."
"Your father?" Mary stared at him.
"Yes. Today he sent me papers of dozen houses and it seemed to me that one of them we fit almost perfectly. Mary, I did not ask your opinion not because it does not matter to me. Very important! I'm just sure that my one and your one are gone together. And if it's did not so we'll think for something more."
Mary took the deep breath and then went up and embraced him.
"I'd forgiven?" Mason asked, relieved hugging her.
"I'll forgive if you will forgive me. I should not to yell to you. You wanted the best."
"I was too bossy--"
"Why was?" Mary pulled away and smiled. "You've always is. Or do you think that I did not know it earlier?"
"And you still married me?"
"Yes, as far as I remember. And you have doubts?"
"No one and Mason backed up his words with his kiss.
