Chapter 2 — Through six hours after Mary's accident"Rosa, any calls from Mason?"
"No, CC. You have just asked me those 15 minutes ago."
CC wanted to say something more, but at that point the phone rang.
"It's probably Mason. Hello Mason, is that you? Who is it?"
"I am Dickson Red. I need to talk with Mason Capwell."
"He is not living here. But I am his father. What is the matter?"
"I was the doctor on call in the emergency room of Santa Barbara Hospital. I have news for Mr. Capwell."
"What is it?"
CC listen for a few minutes, then shortly said, "I am on my way" and hanged down.
"I am going to the hospital. It seems there is the chance that Mary is alive. Rosa, if Mason will call you tell him that he needs to go to the hospital."
"Sure, CC!"

"Dr Red, have I understood you correctly? Have you taken alive person into the morgue???" CC's indignation had not limits. "I will make you pay for it, no doubts!"
"We are not guilty," young doctor Dickson did not want to have troubles. "It's just that the definition of death can be very complex in some cases."
"Complex case! You will pay for that! But it will take my lawyers. And now if you don't want more troubles you will tell me about Mary Duvall. How is she? Is she all right?"
"I am not sure. She has so serious traumas; it is just miracle that she is still alive …"
"More details?"
"She in a coma, Mr. Capwell. And we don't know whether she'll wake up or not. Besides we are not sure whether her brain was damaged or not."
"I see. Clearly."
CC nervously passes though the hall and then come back to Red.
"But still, do you have any prognosis you can share?"
"Unfortunately, I cannot. A coma is too unpredictable."
"OK. Now listen to me: this patient needs to receive the best possible treatment. Do not hesitate to use any means, do everything that you can. But you should hide her name. Let Mary Duvall be considered dead during accident."
"But how?"
"Don't let the consequences stop you. I personally take care of it."
