Chapter 5 — Three weeks after"CC, so you are not going to tell Mason that Mary is alive?"
"I am not. Not now in any case."
"But months have passed already, and he still could not cope with her death! Sometimes it seems to me that he does not live all in the time after. That his life has stopped, the moment that Mary died."
"But she is alive as you know. And Mason needs to get stronger before he will see her."
"Mason needs to cope with her death and live ever after. Have you seen his eyes? They are as a dog's with a stone on his neck!"
"I can hardly tell Mason about this. He will cope, Sophia. He must."

"Mason, today your father will arrive to take you home. Do you remember it?" Dr Lewis looked at Mason's indifferent face a little bit restlessly.
"Yes. I do remember."
"Aren't you glad? Or do our nurses like you too much that you do not want to leave them?"
Dr Lewis immediately understands that his remark was tactless from the pain that was clearly shown on Mason's face.
"OK, then I will leave now. I hope that you will be OK. I will check on you later."
Dr Lewis left and Mason slowly turned to the window. He didn't want to go home. Did not want to see his father and the other Capwells. He didn't want anything. With time his apathy became so hard that the felt absolutely nothing.
