Chapter 2 — Disasters Comes In More Than One

A few hours have passed before Mason could have reached the police department. At first he needed to find a nurse for Chip because Mrs. Witcomb got flu. When he finally arrived to the police he found out that the accident has one more impact on him. The same accident which caused Victoria's death it's killed Julia too. It was not clear why the car did lost control and crushed into the corner of the building. But The Orient Express' personnel were parking nearby had said Mason something about the events that happened before the tragedy. Victoria called Julia when Julia left the restaurant, and Julia climbed in her car. They did not hear Julia and Tori's talking but from their gestures they figured that the women were confronting. Shortly after the car took off and after just 300 foots it crushed into the corner of the building.
So Mason became widower and Chip and Samantha lost of their mothers.
The following 4 weeks were like a nightmare. Two funerals, endless confronting between Capwells and Augusta who arrived to bury her sister and left again as soon as the decencies were done...
Mason barely remembered all this; this time — this incomplete month — seemed to him as a very long-drawn bubble-gum. He didn't leave his children who stayed with him now and almost did not sleep. He could not. As soon as he closes his eyes as he starts to see the unhappy eyes of Victoria and serious eyes of Julia. Probably he was guilty in the death of these women. Probably he was the cause that these babies — now living almost as twins — lost their mothers. So thought Mason and looked at the whiskey bottle. All this time he felt that he wants to drink it to stop his pain. But he didn’t. He had to do for the sake of his children. Now they were all that he had.
