Chapter 21 — Trying To Kill Two Birds With One Stone (2 Part)
Since Mason didn’t want Mary to stay near Mark more than the necessary, they arrived at their destination only in the last moment, even though he was concerned that the papers’ registration would take a lot of time. By the time they arrived Mark has already exhausted himself by thinking Mason has decided to deceive him.
"You are late!" He started, but was roughly interrupted by Mason.
"We are exactly on time, so you’d better shut up. Let’s go, the process will take more than enough time."
"I don’t," Mark shook his head. "I don’t go anywhere until I receive these papers."
Mason looked at him for almost a minute and then took the papers from the internal pocket of his jacket, but he didn’t give them to Mark. He just showed it.
"I have it here, but you will receive it only after you will accept ALL of the conditions of our agreement."
Mark seemed to be relieved, and starting to believe that he will actually receive the papers, he looked at his wife for the first time, he even tried to take her by her hand but Mary jerked away in fright. Mark shrugged his shoulders and entered the building.

Kelly was still in Mason’s apartment. When she returned to the children after accompanying her brother to his car, they were quiet and slept peacefully. It seemed unreasonable to her to wake them up, and she decided to wait before she makes them departure. After all, a few more hours wouldn’t change much... Though frankly speaking, she was just afraid of the thought of having to carry two babies out to the car at the same time. A few hours later, when they still haven’t waken up. Kelly began to get nervous and almost jumped up, when suddenly her cell phone rang.
"Kelly? It's CC. I need you to take the papers from Gregson."
"I can not, not just now."
"Kelly, this is urgent. What is it that you are doing and you can’t leave? You must know that Gregson--"
"I know, but I can not. Find someone else," Kelly began. In this moment, Chip woke up and cried loudly, and after half a minute Samantha joined him.
"Kelly? Whom do you have there? Sophia, she has children there!"
"Dad, I am..." But instead of her father’s voice she heard the voice of her mother.
"Kelly, baby, what is the matter? Where are you?"
"I am ... These are Chip and Sammi crying. I am at Mason's apartment."
"At Mason's apartment??? But what are you doing there?"
"I’m babysitting with his children, in case you haven’t understood it already," Kelly became a bit upset. "Mason asked me, he had to leave."
"And where is their nanny? Or does Mason think that you are his hired worker? Sophia, do you hear what she is doing???"
"Daddy, I need to go. I should feed the children. Find someone else to take care of the reports of Gregson. Bye," Kelly disconnected her cell phone and took a deep breath. Sometimes their father was awfully unfair with Mason...

Mary sat close to Mason in the hall and waited for the decision on her divorce. Mark was leaning on the window frame, looking at her. He felt sorry that he would lose her, but he consoled himself that at least he will receive the papers, and they are more important than Mary is. Yes and frankly speaking, he was bored with his "married life". He didn’t feel any special passion for her, especially after the accident. In the first moments when he has seen her in that hospital, he has even entertained the silly idea of informing Mason, but then he remembered everything Mason did to him, and decided to revenge. In addition since Mary was absolutely depended on him in their marriage. In that moment she was an ideal choice. Who could have known, that she will not necessary...
The door opened.
"Mr. and Mrs. McCormick, go in."
Mason woke up and wanted to get in after Mary, but she suddenly stopped him. "There’s no need, Mason, I can handle it."
"Are you sure?" Mason looked at her with a mixture of feelings, mistrust and pleasure. Mary was returning to herself (the way she was before the accident) more and more with every moment that passed.
"Yes. Stay here, please."
"OK," Mason followed her with his sight and sat again. After a couple of minutes when he stared stupidly at the door as if he could see what was taking place behind it, he took out his cell phone and dialed the number.
"Joe? Do you have everything ready?"
"Yes. The documents are ready; you can come and take it away."
"Later, I am not in California now. Did you find out the fact that I’ve asked you?"
"I will tell you in private. Inform me when you will return. Everything has turned out much more difficult than we thought."
"OK," Mason disconnected and nervously looked at his watch. How much time can this process take??
After 15 minutes the door opened, and Mark and Mary were out.
"Mary? Are you OK?" Mason went towards her.
"Yes," she smiled tiredly. "It’s all over ... Everything."
Mason took her new papers from her hands and carefully read them.
"Yes," he nodded. "Now everything is over, almost everything anyway."
Mary looked at him with fear.
"Yet Dr. McCormick should sign this document here," Mason gave the double sheet to Mark. Mark took the papers, read it and looked at Mason somewhat surprised.
"Are you out of mind?"
"I am not. But you will not receive those papers, if you will not sign it."
Mark turned purple with rage, span the sheet, quickly put his signature and throw it to Mason. Mason pick up papers peacefully, then got convinced that Mark signed exactly where he should have and put it in his pocket.
"Mary, wait for me outside--" Mason told her with a firm tone. Mary wanted to tell him something, but then just kissed him and left.
Mark looked at his watch nervously and stretched his hand.
"Documents!"
Mason combined hands on his chest and shook his head smiling.
"WHAT the hell??? You vowed me!"
"I’m taking back my words. You will not receive any papers."
