Chapter 21 — Trying To Kill Two Birds With One Stone (1 Part)
The plane flight from Santa Barbara to Las Vegas took off. Mason took Mary’s hand and pressed it intensely to comfort her.
"I am with you," he whispered, and then added louder: "But of course you cannot to be a spy. Everyone can see that you carry documents that fit a diplomat after only one glimpse of you."
Mary relaxed and giggled.
"Mason!"
"And you smile!"
"Trickster, you always knows how to make me laugh."
"Yeah.
She nestled, her cheek on his shoulder, and started to nap.

At the same time Mark McCormick was talking by his sell phone in one of the Las Vegas's casinos.
"Yes, I am already here. Of course I did not yet, but I will receive. I do know! Listen, I had enough of you threatening me! Yes, threatening! The hell with you — I am doing everything by myself!"
Mark disconnected the sell phone and put it in his pocket quite upset. Then he looked at his watch and went out, but at the entrance door of casino he was stopped by two guards.
"What the hell?" Mark was frightened.
"The boss ordered to say to you that if you don’t bring the papers by 9 PM today — you are a dead man."
"Today by 9 PM? Are you crazy?! Tomorrow at 6 PM! Let me have at least one day!"
"Orders of the boss are not to be discussed, guy. If he said "today at 9 PM", he means at 9:15 your ears will be cut!" The guard with the bull neck roared from his joke and joined the crowd of visitors of the casino.
Mark got out of the building feeling his legs shaky and almost fell on the bench near it. Mason, if you cheat me--
"Oh you lost all your money, didn’t you?" He heard a spiteful voice, after looking up he saw beside him a teen with greasy hairs. "Of course, they took all!"
"Go to hell!" Mark pushed the boy and with fast steps went in the direction of City Hall. He decided to wait there.

"Mary!" Mason shook her softly. "Mary, we are landing!"
"What?" She looked up at him sleepy. "Have we already there?"
"Yes. And soon you will be free."
"Soon I will see Mark--" Mary turned away and started looking in the window of the plane, there were only clouds there.
"But later you will not have to see him anymore. Do this only today. Only one time, OK?"
"I will try--"
"Mary, why are you so scared of him?" The words escaped Mason’s mouth almost against his wish. "What did he do to you?"
"I am...me--"
"Don’t answer! I am just a fool."
"I do not know," Mary finished. "Mason, I do not really know. But it seems to me that if I will see him — I will be completely under his authority. He affects me like a boa on a rabbit."
"And me? How do I affect you?
Mary had no time to answer. They got into the appreciable shake and then listened to the announcement "Ladies and gentlemen, our plane just now arrived in the airport of Las Vegas City, Nevada State--"
"OK, now we are in the right place. Let's go, we will have plenty of time to be afraid later. First I must relieve you from the authority of Mark McCormick," after these words Mason took the Mary’s hand, and they went together go to the pass way.
