Chapter 27 — And The Heart Is Not The Stone
At first CC's face is short flashed, and then turned pale. He silently looks in sparkling Mason's eyes and frightened Mary's, moving his sight with one to other.
"I demand of explanations," he rather sharply told to Mason. However Mary enters in the conversation again.
"Mr. Capwell, I would like to talk with you."
CC's sight became softer.
"There was a time when you named me just CC," he noticed and sitting in his chair he show to Mary and Mason at two chairs, which stood opposite his one. "But you are right. We need talk. The three of us," he throws still annoyed sight on his son.
"Well," Mason broken up the silence, when they were settled in their chairs. "What is you tell me, father? I am separating from again my family, right?"
Mary took his hand.
"CC, don't angry with Mason. He did this because of me. I am the cause that he put under dangers himself and his children," her voice become tremble.
"Not you, but Mark," Mason corrected.
"Stop, so will not go," CC shook his head. "Mason lets go from the very beginning. And don't dare to lay me."
"It was your prerogative usually," replied Mason. "OK, I starting--"

"... And then I decided that I can not give back to Mark those documents. This clinic has just monsters as doctors. If you can see those sums! Well, I pretended that I going to give back papers to McCormick and got him in Las Vegas to he can have divorce from Mary. He did."
"And then Mark told about everything to the mafia, and now they hunt you because you have deadly papers about them," CC finished before Mason can do this by himself. "How you can get an idea to release this rapist?"
"Dad!" Mason noticed that Mary become pale.
"I am sorry, Mary. Just all told by Mason was the great shock for me."
"Its OK," Mary let off Mason's hand and straightened. "Mr. Capwell... CC. Can we have a talk? Alone."
CC nod. Mason concerned looked at her. Mary squeezed his hand.
"Don't worry, I am OK. Go. Let's go."
Mason unwillingly risen up. After some times looking back to her he left out. CC peering looked at Mary.
"If you want to talk about something then is not the last events? Not about Mark and his dirty businesses, right?"
"Yes," Mary shook her head. "Not about its. Though I am very sorry that Mason now in the center of all these.""
"He loves events like these. Well, what you want to tell? Though I can guess. About Mason's serious intentions?"
"Yes," Mary directly looked at CC. "He wants to marry me. I understand that you hardly can accept me as your daughter-in-law, but--"
"Mary," CC's risen up and after going around of the table, he came closely to her. "I many times spoke that I feel you as my own daughter. Why do you think what something changed now?"
"Excuse me CC, but you spoke many things. A lot of time passed."
"And there are nothing for can be changed. I think that you are the best woman for Mason. I thought this before the tragedy and I continue to thing this now."
"You told me the truth now?" Mary confusedly looked at him. "Are you really think that I can be good wife for Mason?"
"Yes," CC nodded. "Moreover if Mason will dare poorly with you, I am--"
"Sorry," Mary interrupted him. "But what were your thoughts about Mason's wife Victoria?"
"If you already knew about her? I was not fan of Victoria Lane, but there were many hard reasons for me."
"And what is about Julia?"
"Mary, why you asking me about? It seems to me that I must consider as the best wife for my son as Victoria or Julia? Why you doubt in my words?"
"I do not know," Mary poorly smiled. "Excuse, I need to go to Mason. He probably already becoming mad because his worrying about me. He is awfully afraid you."
"Mason?! He don't care even own devil... Mary! O My God!"
Last words were escape from CC, when he see that Mary who coming to the door. She's shudders and starts to fall. CC rushes to her and hardly was in time to pick up her. Mary was in the deep faint.
