Chapter 62 — And Until Death Separates Us...
It has been the morning of the most important day. Alone Mary sitting on windowsill in her and Mason's room and look out to the Capwell's garden. At last night Eden and Kelly separated her and Mason to two rooms, directly said that they cannot see other each until the wedding. Mary smiled when she remember how was funny frowned Mason and how he tried to confront his sisters. It's seems to her that if there are not Mason's fear of her loss, he would step over all manners and the night they would sleep together as did early. However, she was only pleased that they did go by the traditional way. She was needed this alone night and this early morning. She wanted to have a little time for thoughts. Exactly, the thoughts push out her from the bed so early. She was confessing to herself that she is afraid. No, it is not her and Mason's soon-be weddings — the event was promised to be as much emotional as pleased. It's not the birth of her baby — it's willed just a miracle. No, she was afraid of her uncle. She was afraid that he will want to broke up her and Mason and again interferes in her life. She hated even one thought about that he can appear at their wedding. However, it's enough real situations considering under how many attention journalists have been give to Capwells. And what she supposes to do if he'll declared who is he? She feels sick at thoughts that she supposed to speak the phrases of the type "Meet to my uncle Lawrence". But it's just my fantasy, said she herself. Her uncle Larry will not dare to come up to Capwells. He just will not dare. And she needs to stop to imaging any miseries, but prepare to the luckiest day of her life. Today she'll marry!
Meanwhile Mason is sitting on his bed in the guest room and gloomy looked at the locked door. And how he could allow to sisters to handle with him! They are complete crazy gone because pre-wedding traditions! They not give him to spend the night with Mary — in his room, by the way! — and then even put him in the guest room and locked! They said that he does not entrust by them! Stupid girls, he smiled. If he wanted, there cannot be any borders between him and Mary. Surely he did not want even one night be in the empty bed, but he could her outlive. Just the one fact of bossing of his sisters was as a bone in his throat. Finally, he is their older brother and he wiped their noses when they were babies!
Mason got up and walking around, thinking about soon-be makes cases and events. Look alike everything must be ideal, nowhere malfunctions must be. Seems, he provided all... Or no? Mason absently looked at the phone, then removed the receiver and dials the number.
"Jim? Hi, it's Mason Capwell. Yes, thank you for congratulations. Look, your change will protect us at the ceremony and the party, right? No, I just want have it as the most detailed. Yes, fine. Listen to me. I want to have the one person is not got the possibility to enter to us. His name is Lawrence Duvall, high, skinny, dark fine hairs, years 45-50, white. May be using any false names. The sun flooded the Capwell's garden by golden sunlight. The rampage of the paints of the decorations, sea colors, which charming scent knock downed... "I hope so," CC said. "But where are Chip and Sammi?"
"Rose put them in costumes and soon bring here."
"Be brave, son," CC said and patted Mason's shoulder. "It's already soon be finished," he sympathetically added.
Mason rewarded the father with his angry glance and looked at Cruz who kept silence.
"Do you're going to calm me too?"
"No. But you look alike as if you would faint soon."
"Thank you for good word, Cruz! You are my friend for years," Mason called back poisonously.
"Always to your service," Cruz replied unflappable.
Meanwhile Eden, Kelly and Sophia surrounded Mary.
"Well, here you soon become one of us, Capwells," Kelly slyly squinted.
"Sounds as if it's a conviction," Sophia denunciatory said.
"A conviction or not a conviction, but it's soon become the real deal," Mary confessed. "I feel myself mad and pleased simultaneously!"
"It's usually feeling," Sophia smiled. "Do you feel yourself as feeling every lucky bride. But now since we are following traditions, it's time for gifts."
"Yes, it's time," Kelly said and gives Mary the small box. "It's mine."
Mary opened the box and taken breath with surprise and enjoy. The perfectly beautiful bracelet was on the velvet lining.
"It's belonged to my great-grandmother, who died, when I was just a little girl, but I knew that she wanted that it's belonged to Mason's bride. I heard how she said this and embraced him. But he got free and yelled that does not be going to marry at nearest one hundred years," she giggled.
"Thank you, Kelly," Kelly's words touched Mary's soul. "Thank you for your faith in our happiness!"
"Now it's mine. Something new," Eden handed the envelope to Mary.
She takes it and open. It's content a few papers.
"Tickets for the tour on Seine? Paris?"
"Yes. This is the city of love, and I hope that you'll enjoy it in honeymoon."
"Thank you, Eden," Mary embraced her in the same way as before she embraced Kelly. "Thank you!"
"Well, and finally mine. Something blue would finish the tradition, right?" Sophia gives Mary the small photo album in blue velvet cover.
Mary opened the album; somehow can understanding what she will see. But it's shock for her even after. Mason look at her from pages of the album. Mason a baby with rattle, Mason a little boy in cowboy suit, Mason the teenager in school uniform. 30 years flashed by before her eyes for a couple of minutes.
"Here is," Sophia showed, "the space for your photo and yours baby. This is your album for your family."
"Thank you, Sophia! Thank you all!"
"Well, now it's time to take you to marry," Eden taken Mary's hand and lead her to the hall. "It's time. It's time for you and Mason!"
Under Mendelssohn's music Mary is going in the garden. Her mother and sister accompanied her. Mary was afraid that Theda can getting drunk just before the wedding ceremony, but Theda stays sober as a glass. She handed Mary to Mason and enough aloud warned his "have be in safe my girl" before she is walking to her place.
The priest clears his voice and began to read. After the changing rings there are coming the moment of the vows.
"I'm happy as I did never," Mason pronounced and looked at guests. He saw his own sisters and father, Sophia, Rose with Chip and Samantha and others. "I always knew that I do not deserve you and now I feel myself as if unexpected I got the priceless gift. I love you, Mary. And I'll love always. And even the death did not separate us. Never!"
"It seems to me that I always loved you," Mary happy looked at him, and Mason can see her shining eyes. "Even when I cannot confess it to myself, even when I cannot remember you. Nothing not been able to ruin our love, even the death. And I know that this will stay forever. It's not our dream or wish. It does remain with us for rest of our lives. Our real lives."
"I declare, in the name of God, that they are husband and wife," the priest finally states. "You may kiss the bride."
Smiling Mason take Mary's face in palms and kissed her in lips with very long kiss. When they spitted their faces, the air burst by applauses. Mary and Mason have getting be surrounded by crowd of congratulating people who complete hidden them. They cannot see how tall skinny man with dark hair tries to prove to guards that he presents the Santa Barbara Times. They flatly refused him because they had the order of Chief James Logan about the uninvited guest. After guard's words about calling police because breaking of borders of private property, Larry was forced to leave out. He did upset by rejecting and clearly foresee ability of his own action. Larry vow to find the different way to get close with his niece no matter what its cost.
Fortunately, Mason and Mary know nothing about. Happy and shinning they have the limousine to drive in airport where they were already waited by Capwell's private jet, which is going to take them in Paris, the city of love.
