Chapter 76 — The Family Evening
"I am your wife," Mary significantly informed.
"I aware," Mason's eyes flashed with sparkles.
"It is point. And you are my husband. Are you aware about it?"
"In common way... yes," Mason clearly enjoyed by her alignment of forces.
"So it's means that tomorrow you will go with me to my mother. Together children."
"Oh no!" Mason theatrically pressed his heart by his hand. "Take pity on me, all but only not that!"
"That!" Mary stuck him with her finger.
"You are so hard-hearted!"
"You knew that I am when you did marry with me!"
"And for it I will pay off until the end of my days," Mason falsely closed his face with his hands.
"I think that I can carry off your sufferings," Mary kissed him in lips. And more time. And again.
"You told something about tomorrow's trip," Mason weakly said hardly coming off from her lips.
"Is it all of everything that you heard from my words?" Mary pushed away him. "OK, let's take seriously it. When you can drive us to Ventura?"
"Afternoon," Mason stopped to laugh, but sparkles in his eyes remained the same. "Until I should be in the court."
"I got it. Mason--"
"What?"
"Nothing. Just M-a-s-o-n," Mary smiled. "It is pleasant to me as your name sounds."
"Because you love me."
"What self-confidence!"
"I am Capwell, remember? Being self-confidence genetically is in our blood. Besides, never I believe that my name is pleasant to you just phonetically."
"You are right."
"I am always right. Mary," he pulled her closer and put his hand on her stomach. "Mary, you are needed have a rest. You hardly slept for too many nights. Let's I'll take away children to your mother's tonight. Do you want?"
"What?" Mary looked at him. "Do you want to take children to Theda's? What for?"
"Well, I guess that not only my father would take them, but she do also. And you are not OK with it?"
"No, I am OK. But... I am afraid--"
"Do not worry, I will cooperate with Theda. Is it frightens you?"
"In fact, yes. I do not know how mom will concern to--"
"My children," Mason finished instead of her. "You in vain worry, in my opinion. After all, I am father of our baby. It belongs to you and me. So why she'll not babysitting with Chip and Sammy if they are my children too?"
"I do not know... Mason, do you really want it?"
"I want that you have a rest," he seriously reminded. "Also, I want that our parents got used that we are the same family."
"All right, I'll call to my mother," Mary stands up from the sofa, but Mason pushes her back.
"I'll call her, not you. And you lie down and have a rest. When you had last visit to the doctor?"
"Past week. You just a kind of dictator, really," Mary reproved replied, but obeyed.
"As you correctly noticed earlier — I am your husband," Mason laughed. "Also, I'll care about you even if for this I'll need to battle with my father."
"Or my mother?"
"I am much more easer with her then with CC Capwell," Mason kissed her and go to call Theda.
He returned after some minutes.
"I have agreed all and now I will take away children. By the way, unlike that you thought, your mother with delight accepted my idea."
"With delight? Mason, do you assure that you called under correct number?"
"It is absolutely assured. Have a rest!" the last word was told by menacing tone as Mary is up to pack children's things."
"Mason, I am pregnant instead of being sick. Besides if you'll pack children's things, my mother will babysitting with children in first and last time that I want not to be happened."
Mason wanted more something to tell, but kept silent and began to look how she packing clothes for Chip. When all things have been packed and transferred by Mason to the car, and children are carefully arranged on children's seats, Mary finally could relaxing and return to the apartment that looked as an empty one. Though she was not so trusted to her mother in good care about her stepchildren, but Mason was right — they really became the one family. Also, she was hurt to think that Theda will lisp with their soon-be baby only, and Mason's children remain without her attention. They are not guilty that their birth mothers are dead. She'll be only mother whom they will remember.
Feeling herself, tired Mary lay down on the bed and began to wait Mason's returning. He should not be late after Ventura. However then she remember how he said that he else should go to the court and realized that he'll back at home yet not soon. Gradually she dozed off, and when Mason returned she already deeply slept.
He smiled, having seen how correctly she follows his instructions. Firstly, he wanted to cover her with the plaid, but then he grinned, picking up her and take to the distant bedroom. Mary just sleepy murmured something and then nestled her head on his shoulder. Mason put her on bed and covered the blanket. Mary relaxed turned on her back, and he gently run his palm on her tummy and stop it on the top. And he felt the weak push under his palm. His heart hardly stopped. He holds his breath, not removing his hand from Mary's tummy. Also again, he felt how someone pushed his hand from within. Mason smiled, kissed Mary in her cheek (she not moved at all, only her lips hardly moved in a weak smile) and left the bedroom. Going to the court, he felt an unusual elation. All inside have sing after feeling of sensation that his and Mary's baby lets him to know that it is. Very soon he can take it in hands! Very soon, something virtual thing becomes the real little boy!
