Chapter 15 — Parting and The Danger
Mason smiled as he looked at Mary who was sleeping at the armchair, taking the phone with him to the kitchen. He was calling the Capwells' Residence.
"Hello?
Rose picked up the phone. "Mason! Where are you? Are you returning any time soon?"
"Yes, I do. I miss Chip and Sammi. How are they?"
"They are good. Mason, how are you? You have such a strange voice--"
"I am fine. I am coming for the children now."
He hung up and left after writing the note for Mary.
Mary woke up when she heard the sound of the slamming door. At first she did not understand, what it was, and called Mason's name. Then she saw the note and read it.
"Sweetie, I go to bring Chip and Samantha.
I will be at home very soon,
I love you,
Mason. "
Mary didn't smile. She was somewhat afraid. Let him return very soon!

Mason arrived at his father's house. He didn't want to talk with anyone, not even with Rose, but he understood that without explanations he cannot do anything, and decided to reveal only the minimum to his relatives.
However he did not expect all his family to be waiting for him in the hall. They all looked at him in silence, and Mason didn't like it.
"What is the matter? Why are you all here? Has something happened with my children?" He begins to worry.
"Don't worry," Kelly assures him. "It's OK; Sammy and Chip are all right. They are sleeping."
"I will not wait until they'll wake up. I'm taking them away right now."
"Mason waits. There is something that you need to know."
"Drop these sentimentalities, Kelly," CC upset told her. "Tell him what has really happened! Tell him that he almost killed you!"
"What? What are you saying? Kelly?"
"Mason, two days ago I casually taken from our parking place your car."
"You couldn't. I left it in the airport."
"Your other car, your old one. Mine has suddenly got broken and I decided to take your old car in the meanwhile. You didn't use it for a long time--"
"So what happened? Have you scratched it and were afraid that I'll force you to paint it?"
"Mason, your car was burst with thousand pieces!"
"How? What are speaking about?"
"It was bugged with a bomb. Look, I was driving it to the Orient Express, but in middle of the way I suddenly remembered that I should make a call. I stopped the car and went to the cabin and at this time your car has blown!"
It seemed to Mason that the ground has shaken under his legs. He was shaken so strongly physically that he was forced to grab the wall with his hand. His car! The car that he used to drive before Mary's death. He knew immediately what they are talking about — only this his car was parking in the garage at the Capwell Residence. Yes, Mark has clearly didn't make an effort for nothing!
Kelly ran to Mason.
"Mason, are you OK?"
"I am fine," he straightened. "I want to take my children away."
"Mason, you understand that you are the one they wanted to kill?"
"This is not your business."
"Wha-at?"
"Dad, it seems to me that I somewhat understood. Mason, you know who is behind this? Do you know who wants to kill you?!"
Mason barely viewable wince, and Kelly noted this.
"I am right. You do know! And you want to take away the children?"
"With me they will be safe. Instead staring on me as the herd asses, you'd better found out how anyone can bug any bombs in a so carefully protected garage at the house!"
"Mason, how dare you!"
"I dare. OK, enough with the idle talking. I take my children and leave."
"Mason, before you do that you must think about the babies," Sophia joined the conversation breaking the strange silence that was around them. "You put them in a lethal danger."
"I will put their life in a lethal danger, if I WON'T take them from this house. And don't talk to me about egoism, you, Sophia."
After these words Mason went on the second floor and start packing the things of the children. No one even bothered to find the time to do this, though he warned them that he wants to take away his children.
While packing off the children's things in bags, Mason couldn't stop thinking about Mark. It seems he underestimated this "nice doctor"...
Though earlier he wasn't up to such methods. May be Mary was right when she spoke about the large danger they are faced from him?

Mary was walking in the apartment, don't know, where to put herself. Mason's absence weighed on her, she did not feel safe here as at her home. Eventually she decided to do some cleaning before his arrival. After all he will bring the children! She removed all the things from the big table and replaced the table-cloth. Then she came to the window with intention to water flowers which were on the window sill. A sixth feeling force her at first to look through glass, not removing a curtain. In the street she saw the man. He was walking on the opposite side of the street and occasionally keeps an eye on the window of Mason's apartment! Mary nestled at the wall in a pier of the window. She at once remembered this person. He sometimes came to Mark. She even thought to try to ask him to help her, but then thought better of it.
"I'm glad I didn't," she thought now. "I can barely hold his appearance here as just a coincidence. She move down by her back on the wall and began to cry. Mason, where are you?!
