Chapter 70 — God Loves Three?
"Yes, we are the one family," Mary agreed and gestured CC to sit down. She was nervous, but felt that should behave as a woman. Now she was Mason's wife, and it is changed all.
"But we are still--" she started.
"Still not got in to see each other by this way," CC helped her. "Not be embarrassed, I can see. We really need more time here."
"Here too much events are happened," Mary responded. "You know, early it seemed to me that when we'll come back home, it's finally will return everything on their places. Because all of these awful events finally are ended."
"It was very hard time to you," CC agreed. "But you and Mason were very brave... Now I'll tell you the one secret," he conspiratorially bent to her. "There were moments when I was proud of Mason. My God, I don't believe that I said this!"
"I will not give out you," Mary smiled. "Though I am sure that I would like make it. Mason worries because of your attitude--"
"Mason will not believe me after all," CC sadly told. "I tried to talk to him many times, but... it's all were uselessly. Even making things worse."
"I know," Mary seriously told. "I know it as I know as that both of yours many times did attempts to reconcile. And I believe that you can sometime adjust relations... CC, what you want now?
He frowned, but answer was not in time, because the key turned in the lock and come in some fidget Mason.
"Father?" he first was shocked and then becomes angry. "What are you doing here?"
"I want to talk to you."
"About what?"
"Mason, what is happens? You should be in the court."
"After Christie's call to me I'm become worry, so I decided to return at home earlier. I'd done the most of cases."
In the children's room Chip begun to cry. By her sight Mary asked Mason doesn't fight with his father and disappeared in the children's room.
"About what?" CC repeated. "About you. And about your last vagary."
Mason let out air through his teeth and called to the help all of his self-control.
"If you're talking that I move out of your house, it was not "my vagary", but the most reasonable that I could make. Devil take it, father! How you dare to sue against me!" he breaks finally.
"I wanted to protect kids! And how you wanted that I looked how they are endangered? I'm accepting that I did not think that you had the so weighty reason to be got involved in dismantling of the mafioso. But for that moment I had not any choose. You are even wanted to explain me nothing!"
"Just don't tell me that if I first told you everything that you didn't decide to sue me! Even after all information you are too reluctantly authorized us to stay in your house!"
"You may trust be or not, Mason, but during that moment I just thought of how to keep you there instead of how to push away."
Mason's head moved. CC nodded.
"Yes. As soon as I saw that Mary is with you, I understood at once that just one my word could force you to go out for nowhere. You do not saw how you are looked from other's side, what was the impression of you. Jus from you sparks flied--"
"I could not lose her," Mason's voice has broken, and he angrily cleared the throat. That time now seemed as some very far, but the painfulness doesn't go anywhere.
"You told something like this then."
"Do you not believe me?"
"Why? Yes, I do. As far I know, as it was the unique reason by which you could ask me about the permission to staying in my house."
Mason kept silent and then again started talking. "Openness for openness, father. I am grateful to you for that you helped us then. If you would give up to us--"
"I would not do. You are my son after all.
Coming tears tickle Mason's throat and to hide it he was already ready to blurt out "Father, are you apologize?" but at the point from children's room coming out Mary.
"Mason, help me to feed Chip, he is kicking. He has better behaving with you. I am sorry, CC."
"It's OK. Mason, I am glad that the conversation is taken place."
"Changed nothing, father."
"And here you are not right, son," CC is going to the door. "Changed. And you first of all."
Mason shrugged shoulders, and CC turned back on the threshold.
"By the way, you also were very difficult to feed in Chip's age. And I had you from Pamela when she cannot to put in you enough of food."
When doors are closed behind CC, and Mary giggled.
"Why you laugh?" Mason was surprised.
"Nothing, just I like your father. From time to time," she smiled.
