Chapter 8 — Runaway
Mary’s familiar voice gave Mason a feeling of reality. He embraced her and closed his eyes. He becomes full of emotions--
"Mason, you hurt me--"
"I am sorry," Mason took away, continuing to look at her. "Excuse me; I’m just crazy because I’m so happy. I could not even dream of seeing you again--"
"Mason, I need your help! Mark--"
"Don't care about damn Mark! I found you!"
"No! Mark is dangerous and he can come in any time!"
"Don't be afraid! You are safe now; you are here with me--"
"Mason--"
"Let's leave here. You are so afraid of this bustard--"
"Yes, let's go! As soon as possible, while Mark still has not returned. I just want to change clothes--"
"It is not necessary; I’ll buy everything for you later. Come on!"
"Only one minute! I can not go out in a bathrobe."
Mary ran to the other room. Mason went behind her but she has slammed the door almost before his nose.
"Mason, I’ll be right back!"
Mason shook his head and looked around. This house did not make you trust it... there was some kind of evil about it...
The door of the bedroom was fast opened and Mary left it. She put on a man's jeans and a shirt.
"It belongs to Mark," she explained. "I have no normal clothes, he was afraid that I’d run away. Though he thought that I'm mentally ill--"
"Let's go!" Mason took Mary by her hand and led her out. Suddenly they heard a noise of an approaching car.
"It’s Mark!" Mary sharply turned pale, and becomes dizzy. "Run!"
Mason is not afraid of Dr McCormick but after he saw that Mary is afraid to death of him decides that it would be better for her not having a meeting with him.
He dragged her on a hall there, where he early entered trough a window. Here! Mason jumped out in the garden and drew his hands up to Mary. But Mary was stunned because she heard Mark’s voice calling her.
"Mary! Let's go! Here!"
Mason jumped up and grabbed her hands. Feeling his touch Mary woke up and jumped out from the window. Mason caught her and they run through the garden to his car. A minute later, Mary was already sitting in the car and Mason drove away with wild speed. They drive to the marina. Mason helped Mary climb out because her oversized man's clothes and lead her to the yacht of the Capwell's.
"Mary comes here. I’ll just return my car to the rent agency and we can leave this place. We will go to a place where you will be in a complete safety."
"I am afraid."
She hugged him.
"Me too. Just one minute--"
Mason gave her quick kiss and rushed to the agency.
