Mary comes to her duty and talks to CC, tells him about her love for Mason and about Mark, whom she considers to be reliable.
Gina understands that now it is possible to reach CC with Mason's permission only. Despairingly, she decides to go to extremes. At first, she tries to seduce the guard but when she has almost done this, Mason comes. He lets the guard go, as he has decided to watch his father's room by himself till morning. He has already arranged a date with Janice, and he calls her and suggests having a date at the Capwell's mansion. Gina realizes that it is her last chance and she pours the liquid from a cigarette lighter to Mason's Chinese restaurant meal that is on the table near CC's room. Then she calls Janice and, having introduced herself as Mason's secretary, cancels her date with Mason. Having done this, Gina says Mason that Janice has called and cancelled their date. Mason is a little disappointed by this message but begins eating the meal fearlessly, including the poisoned one.
Later he feels he becomes ill and realizes someone poisoned him to reach CC and to kill him.
Meantime Eden, who is on vacation with Kirk at the Tahoe Lake, feels that something wrong at home. At first, he does not pay attention to her forefeeling but then she yields and calls home.
