Mary comes to the La Mesa and joins Theda and Christie at the table. She apologizes for being late and tells that she was watching Ted's test on lie detector.

Having heard that Ted passed the test Christie becomes tensed. Mary says that Steve is studying the results at the moment and they will prove everything.
Steve approaches them and says unwillingly that the test didn't prove anything. Mary is surprised, as Ted was so nervous. Steve says that Christie has to pass the test too. Christie is frightened. Steve makes her step aside.
Theda looks through the menu and says that there are best Margaritas. Mary looks discontent.
"Mum!"
"I know, daughter, I just said it."
Theda shuts the menu. She looks upset.
Frightened Christie tells Steve that she won't be able to pass the test on the lie detector.
Steve whishes and insists on her passing the test anyway. Otherwise after Ted's successful results people will decide that she lies.
Mason and Ted approach Theda and Mary's table. Mason informs them that the detector showed that Ted told the truth.
Mary says that she doesn't believe it; it's a mistake. Theda adds that, as she has heard, this test is not precise.
Mason says distinctively that the test is very precise and it will help to prove that Ted is innocent of the crime Christie accuses him.
Mary is upset; she says it can't be the truth. Theda notices that she told that this test is just a stupid machine. Mason answers that this "stupid machine" works all right. Mary agrees with her mother that test unreliable. Mason says that she grasps at a straw and wonders how long it will take her to admit the truth. Theda asks in a frustrated voice not to tell her about the truth. And the truth is that Ted raped her baby. Little Christie is so deceivable.
Theda asks in a frustrated voice not to tell her about the truth. And the truth is that Ted raped her baby. Little Christie is so deceivable.
Mason notices that the truth about Christie's character will be revealed in the court.
Ted approaches Christie, Steve says him to go away. Ted wants to talk to Christie. Steve pushes him, and demand that Ted must stay away. Ted asks Christie why she does it to him. Has he ever hurt her? She knows he didn't rape her.
Christie asks Steve to protect her from Ted. Steve pushes Ted again. Cruz approaches from behind and wants to take Ted away but Ted hits his face. Mason takes Ted away rapidly. Steve furiously demands from Cruz that Ted must never approach Christie again. Cruz agrees unwillingly and goes away yelling: "Ted!"

Cruz's yacht. Santana applies ice to Cruz's hurt jaw. The latter says indignantly to Ted that his behaviour was quite stupid. Ted apologizes for hitting him.
But Cruz continues that he got Ted out of jail on parole. Ted says that he lost his temper. Cruz asks him whether he understands what impression it will make in the court. Mason confirms that all the visitor of the cafe can testify that Ted can't control his feelings.
Ted makes excuses and said that he was just happy that he had passed the test. Now Christie will have to change her testimony. Mason says that Christie is passing the test too right now. If she passes the test successfully it will depreciate the results of Ted's test. Ted says she won't pass it, as she lies. Cruz is not sure he can prevent Steve from arresting Ted again. He says he will do everything possible if Ted promises not to approach Christie. He must stay away from her because of the decision of the court no matter whether she lies or not. Ted refuses to promise this. He doesn't care if they throw him to jail. Ted runs away. Mason promises Cruz to talk to him and follows Ted.

Christie with her mother, her sister, and Steve comes into the room for testing on the lie detector. Mary is comforting her, saying that she will just be asked the questions.
Steve tell Mary and Theda to go out, before leaving the room Theda comforts Christie: "Just tell the truth and everything will be all right".
Theda and Christie go out, Christie stays with Steve face to face. Steve says that, fortunately, the machine can't react her words exactly. Christie must answer very cautious. It is her only chance.
The test begins.
"Did Ted Capwell offer you having sex?"
"No".
"Did you have sex with him?"
"Did he attack him?"
"Yes".
"Did you scratch him?"
"Yes".
"Did he rape you?"
"Yes".
"Did you answer all the questions honestly?"
"Yes".
Test is over. Sensors are taken away from Christie. Steve and a person who was testing are going to decode.
Christie stays alone.
She nervously walks in the office. Finally Steve comes back and says with pleasure that she passed the test successfully.
Christie can't believe it. Steve says he would like to see Ted Capwell's face when he learns about it. He accompanies Christie away from the office.
