Julia comes to CC and says that Mason is disappeared, and maybe he killed Mark. CC is sure that Mason didn't do it, although he admits that he hinted at this. Suddenly Julia realizes where Mason may be.
Mason goes to the church and asks the God to forgive him. |

Mary's face appears above the altar in the mist. | ||||
|
||||
Mason calls her name and says that he does not know what he will live for. Mary remind him about his ows Capwells' coat of arms and the motto "Forget not regret not". Mary repeats this words and disappears. | ||||
|
||||
Mason promises that he will never be sorry about any second with her and he will never forget her. | ||||
|
||||
Julia enters the church, she is happy she has finally found Mason. She asks cautiously about Mark, and Mason answers her explicitly that Mark is dead, he revenges for Mary's death. | ||||
|
||||
Julia rushes to the telephone to call CC. When she leaves Mary's face appears above the altar again. | ||||
|
||||
She reminds him: "Regret not, forget not". Mason says he will never forget her. Mary says that he regrets and blames himself for her death. Mason says he is a person to blame. Mary answers he could not do anything and asks him to continue living, and never be again the Mason he was before they met. Mason says he will try. Mary's face disappears. Mason asks her not to leave and to be with him. |

This moment Gina enters the church. She is going to lit a candle for Mary's soul and offer Mason her help. Mason asks her to leave him alone. | ||||
|
||||
Gina leaves, Julia returns. She says that CC wants Mason to go home. Mason agrees but before it he has to make a call, and he asks her to give him a coin. | ||||
|
||||
At the Capwells' house Julia and CC are asking Mason about Mark. He is clowning but keeps telling that he shot Mark by himself. Finally CC believes it and is about to send Mason out from the city. Mason is surprised at the father's readiness to hide him from justice. | ||||
|
||||
Meanwhile the door bell rings, CC opens the door and sees Cruz on the doorstep, Mason is clowning and says that he is delivering himself up to justice. | ||||
|
||||
CC wants to protect Mason but Cruz says that Mason called the police and told that he wanted to make a confession of murder. Mason says that Cruz has to arrest him and gives him an instrument of murder, a gun. | ||||
|
||||
Cruz takes Mason to the police station. There he gives him a coffee and tries to figure out what Mason is about to do. Mason keeps saying that he killed Mark McCormik and he is ready to show the body. But first he wants to make a call. | ||||
|
||||
Cruz leave him in the office and when he returns, Mason is sleeping. | ||||
|
||||
Cruz is indignant at Mason's careless attitude but Mason says that he is very serious and he is ready to show the police Mark's body. | ||||
|
||||
Accompanied by Cruz and another policeman, Mason goes to the Capwell hotel roof. Cruz asks where the body is but Mason asks to wait a little. Cruz does not like it but this moment CC appears on the roof and Mason says that everyone is here. | ||||
|
||||
CC does not understand why Mason called him here, and Cruz explains that he is going to show Mark's body. Mason promises he will but first he has to give to the police a document, Marks confession of Mary's rape. CC takes the paper, makes sure that it is the confession and gives it to Cruz. | ||||
|
||||
Mason shows everybody to the figure that is lying on the roof and covered by a cloth. He takes the cloth off - it is not Mark it is Mason made of cardboard and life-size. | ||||
|
||||
Everyone is on the edge, CC mentions smoothly that he does not understand why Mason killed Mark if he got the written confession from him. Mason answers: "It is a play but it is over". | ||||
|
||||
He makes several steps aside and pulls the handle of the case of fire tools. Alive but bound Mark is there. The policeman takes him out of there and lets free. Mark yells that Mason is abnormal. Mason calls him rapist. Cruz arrests Mark and takes him away. | ||||
|
||||
Mason and CC are alone. Mason says that Mark is taken away but he doesn't feel better, and, probably, never will. | ||||
|
||||
He looks to the sky and says "Without you [Mary] never will". | ||||
|
||||
CC hold Mason and they go away. |
