In the morning Mary comes out of the bed room and sees Mason sleeping on the desk. | ||

She wakes him up and he is going to continue preparing to the trial. Mary asks him again to give up this case and not to revenge. Mason answers that Mark is a rapist and he will be punished. Mary says that it will be difficult to prove the fact of rape. Mason says that her testimony will be enough for it. Mary bridles with anger and cries that she won't go to the court. | ||

||
Mason and Mary come to the court and run across Mark and Julia. Mason is surprised by Julia's presence after her talking to Mary the day before but Julia confirms that she is still Mark's attorney. Mason is indignant; he doesn't understand Julia's actions. | ||
|
||
At the court Mark is interviewed by TV reporters, he accuses Mason of framing up the case against him in order to steal his wife. | ||
|
||
Mary is shocked. Mason argues with Julia and then reproaches Mary for behaving as if she were guilty. | ||
|
||
Mary says she feels this way; Mason comforts her and asks to be strong. Mary says that he is an only person who needs this trial and he doesn't think about her feelings. | ||
|
||
Mary and Mark are waiting for filing a charge of rape in the DA Office. Mark says they will never prove the fact of rape and Mason is just eager to destroy him. Mary doesn't want to talk to him but Mark insists on talking. He says he was fired because of the charge and denies having raped Mary. Mary says he repeats it so often that he seems to believe in it. | ||

||
Mason comes in and threatens Mark. The latter demands that Mason stops pursuing him, as he has already suffered a lot from it by losing the job, in addition, the Medical Board suspended his license until the end of the trial. Mason answers it is just a beginning. If he is acquitted, Mason will file a charge of medical negligence, and then Mark's license will be annulled forever. Mary quietly asks Mason to live Mark alone. | ||

Mason is sorry he did not come earlier. Mary is almost crying, she says she cannot bear it anymore and he doesn't hear her at all. Mason is comforting her. Mary says she doesn't like making Mark suffer. She accuses him willing to revenge again but Mason insists that he just wants the justice to be rendered. He knows it is hard for her but he thinks that she will understand it is a right decision after everything is over. | ||

||
Mary answers that she would prefer to believe that it is so but now she feels she is deprived of the church and friends, and she is completely alone. Mason says she has him. Mary holds him and whispers that she is very tired of it all and she doesn't now what is right and wrong. She just wants everything to be finished. Mason promises he will do for it everything he can. | ||
|
||
Mason wants to rehearse Mary's trial examination. She says he won't be able to speak to strange people about it but agrees unwillingly. Mason asks her to tell from the very beginning. Mary says that she decided to leave Mark and came to take her belongings. Then Mark came and began persuading her to stay with him, them he grasped her and began kissing. Her resistance just provoked him. | ||

||
At the same time Julia examines Mark. He tells that Mary has been making him jealous for long time by her affairs with Mason. At the guest house he kissed Mary and she answered him. He lost self-control.
Mary tells Mason that Mark was crazy, shouting he was her husband, she was begging him to stop until she gave in. |

||
Mark: "She gave in almost immediately I know she wanted me almost as much as I wanted her." Mary: "I was scaviolet to death, I begged him just to stay away from me but he said no, I was his wife I he was going to have me, and then he tore my dress, it was awful!" Mark: "She enjoyed it all right, I know she did." Mary: "It was the most horrible experience I've ever had in my life." Mark: "I was her husband and we made love." Mary: "He raped me." Mark: "It isn't a rape, I was exercising my husband rights and that's all!" |

Mary says to Mason that she has been thinking a lot and she realized that she is not able to testify in the court. She cannot destroy a person. It will affect them and their child in future. Mary says she wants to withdraw her complaint. Mason doesn't agree with it. | ||
|
||
He says that if now they do not go to the end, Mark will always spoil their lives. He will always remind them about the evil he has done. Also Mary wants to get rid of Mark but she thinks that they are overacting now. She doesn't want to participate in destroying a person. Mason answers that he won't allow her to drop everything and Mark will pay in full. |
